Winter/Spring Activities

International Discussion Forum:

“Ethics in Studies and Work”
In every type of work and studies, we sometimes face ethical challenges. Can the Bible or other spiritual values give us guidance in these difficult decisions? A panel from various work and academic disciplines will share their experiences and multi-national small group discussions will allow us to learn from each other.

Mon. 1/19; 7:00-9:30 PM - Watch & discuss Documentary DVD on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. What did Martin Luther King actually say and do? What was life in = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />America like for African-Americans before MLK and the Civil Rights Laws?

Fri. 1/30; 7:30-9:00 PM - International Discussion Forum - “Balancing Time & Values that I Give to School, Work, Friends, Family and Myself” ; The fear of not succeeding professionally often encourages us to allow work and studies to come before all other priorities and choices. Could this choice result in our worst fears of failure in life? Could spiritual support help us make good choices? Join others from many nations to discuss the pursuit of a balanced life, including studies, work, family and self. Refreshments and informal discussions following presentation.

Sat. 2/7; 6:30-8:00 PM - Group Singing of Traditional American Songs: seasonal, cultural, & Christian songs: Learn & discuss songs about Civil Rights in America, Mardi Gras, & Valentines Day. Come early at 6pm and join for soup & rice & socializing.


Fri. - Sun. 2/13-2/15 - Retreat “Being Hospitable”: for American & International Christians and those interested in what the Bible says about being hospitable to others; Included in the weekend are: food & hospitality from around the globe, Central PA farming culture, discuss book of Ruth from the Bible, games, recreation, hiking trails, meet new friends from other universities and many nations.

Fri. - Sat. 2/20-2/21 - Practical discussion about and service to the poor “Jesus, Justice, and the Poor”: How are faith and helping the poor connected? Could it be that “Faith” and “Service” need each other? What does Jesus say about these issues? Come explore these questions with other students through community service, group discussion, artwork, and Bible discussions on these topics, in a North Philadelphia neighborhood.
